PPF and ceramic coating get lumped together, but they solve different problems. One is a physical shield, the other is a chemical one. Knowing the difference is the difference between spending your money in the right place.
Paint protection film is a thick, self-healing urethane layer applied over your paint. It physically absorbs rock chips, road debris, and scratches, the things that actually gouge your factory finish. It is the only thing that stops a rock chip, and on North Alabama highways, that is the damage doing the real harm.
Ceramic coating is a liquid nano-quartz layer that bonds to your clear coat. It does not stop rock chips. What it does is add a hydrophobic, UV-resistant, chemical-resistant surface that beads water, resists staining, and makes washing far easier, all with a deep, glossy finish. It fights chemical and UV damage, not physical impacts.
If you can only do one and you drive the highway, start with PPF on the front end, because that is where the expensive damage happens. If your paint is already in good shape and you want easy maintenance and gloss, ceramic coating is the move. Many of our customers do both: PPF on the impact zones, ceramic coating over the whole vehicle. The PPF takes the hits, the ceramic keeps everything slick and glossy.

Neither is better, they do different jobs. PPF physically stops rock chips and scratches. Ceramic coating adds gloss and a hydrophobic, UV-resistant surface but does not stop impacts. For physical protection, choose PPF. For easy maintenance and shine, choose ceramic. Many drivers do both.
Yes, and it is a popular combination. We can apply a ceramic coating on top of paint protection film to add gloss and make the film even easier to clean, while the PPF underneath handles the rock chips. It is the most complete protection setup we offer.
