The Shoals sun is the same Alabama sun, but the driving is different from the Huntsville side. Long open runs on US-72 with low sun, a lot of west-facing afternoon driving, and cars that park outside all day rather than in decks. That combination is about glare and interior damage as much as cabin temperature. UV is what dries and cracks dashboards, and quality film blocks essentially all of it whether you go light or dark, which is worth knowing if you are trying to decide how dark to go.
Because you are making a trip, it is worth considering what else the vehicle needs while it is here. Tint is a day. Paint protection film, a ceramic coating and a wrap are not, so if you want any of those the visit becomes a drop-off rather than a wait. We do all of it in one building in Madison, which for an out-of-town customer is the difference between one arrangement and three.
On the law, and it depends on what you drive: a passenger car needs at least 32 percent light transmission through every window except the windshield, back glass included. An SUV, van or other multi-purpose vehicle follows the same 32 percent on the front seat windows and may go darker behind them where the manufacturer allows it, with an outside mirror required on each side. We confirm the classification before cutting, so you are not driving back to the Shoals with something that will not pass.
